The entertainment areas and facilities at Wombat Hollow are immense, following is an overview of what is available for use.
Dining Shed: one shed which can seat up to 120 at round tables (100 is ideal) – see photos of a recent sit down function for 120
Cocktail Lawn: a large (approx 15m x 15m) lawn which can be open air or a marquee erected on it – they frequently host stand-up cocktail and finger food functions on this lawn for up to 200 – see photo of string ensemble playing under an open sided marquee on that lawn
Fireplace Shed: another shed which has a huuuuge stone open fireplace (big enough to walk into), sofa settings etc plus the open plan commercial kitchen – see photos of Trattoria style buffet meal being served by chefs. This is also the shed where the Australian Chamber Orchestra have held their master classes with a Steinway Grand piano and audience theatre style seating for 100, followed by cocktails and finger food on the adjacent lawn
Other Sheds, Grounds etc: The property also has a number of other sheds which can be used if futher facilities are needed eg break-out facilities. There are extensive gardens, sweeping down to a lake, a small orchard with fruit trees, a rugby oval which can be used for outdoor activities or parking for a large number of vehicles, a tennis court, a large bbq cabana and a creek bank with extensive wombat burrows and resident wombats.
Facilities:
- Audio Visual - An audio visual control centre is in the fireplace shed with large plazma screen, Bose sound system (piped to the lawn area and to the other shed etc), DVD player, CD player, VCR player, PA system etc and a huge collection of music. A Bowral-based A/V pro-shop is very familiar with the venue and has successfully provided both equipment and staff to cater for specific client needs.
- Stages – there are two small stages which can be used for a speakers’ podium, entertainment etc.
- Heating - Each of the sheds has large gas-fired mushroom heaters suspended from the ceilings which maintain very comfortable ambient temperature even when it is close to snowing outside.
- Lighting – each of the sheds has theatrical style lighting installed on pipe racks suspended from the ceilings. Large high powered spot lights allow feature lighting of table floral arrangements, wall artifacts, speakers, entertainers, general ambient lighting etc.
- Bathrooms – feature quality porcelain fittings and are lined with mini-corrugated iron internal cladding with full cornice, architrave etc detailing to maintain a quality visual appearance and guest comfort. A further hand washing station is in an adjacent area allowing large numbers to be caterd for.
- Commercial kitchen – a fully equipped kitchen can support preparation and serving of any style of meal from full restaurant quality fine dining to casual buffet style, finger food, morning/afternoon teas etc.
- Bar facilities – can be set up in multiple locations around the venue.
Construction: the sheds are modern construction using high quality materials. The structures are fully lined with an insulation layer to maintain thermal comfort and draft proofing and full cornice detailing etc. Doors and windows are high quality supply allowing opening up of a number of areas for indoor/outdoor ambience and a free flow of guests.
Décor: Despite the modern construction, visible surfaces use materials which have been carefully selected to create a rustic country feel in keeping with the historic artifacts which adorn many of the internal walls and exterior surfaces. Rusty corrugated iron has been used for internal linings, hession curtains drape a number of walls, polished concrete floors, inverted carpet floor coverings, lapped oiled timber siding, craftsman constructed timber barn-style double doors, treated timber pole uprights etc all create a very stylish country look and feel. A variety of Wombat Hollow lamps wil almost always be installed
